Everyone at Leicester Celtic is incredibly proud of Josh O’Dwyer, who signed for Austrian club @fcredbullsalzburg on Friday.*
Josh began his football journey with us at just four years of age, spending seven wonderful years in our Academy before moving on to @shamrockroversofficial . His development since then has been exceptional. He has represented @faireland at U15, U16 & U17 level, and only two weeks ago he was part of the U17 squad that qualified for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
Beyond his talent on the pitch, Josh is an outstanding young man — humble, grounded and always respectful. He still returns to Leicester Celtic during the off‑season for a kick‑about and regularly helps coach at our camps. Josh and his family have always stayed connected to the club, never forgetting where his football journey began, and that loyalty means a great deal to everyone here.
His sister Sofia played with one of our girls’ teams and continues to take part in our Mini World Cup each year. JP, Josh’s dad coached Josh & his team with hours of hard work alongside Dave Byrne & the 2010 Team. JP remains a familiar face on the sidelines supporting all Leicester Celtic teams, and he returns annually to help out at the Mini World Cup. Their continued involvement shows the deep affection the whole family has for the club.
JP and Agata can be immensely proud — not only of what Josh has already achieved at such a young age, but even more so of the grounded, hardworking and humble teenager he has become.
