​On behalf of everyone in Leicester Celtic FC we want to extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Kieran family on the passing of Niall Kieran in a tragic cycling accident in France last week. Niall's dad Gerry is a former coach, and his brother Conor played for Leicester Celtic for many years. Deepest condolences to Gerry, Conor, and all the Kieran family.

​The Leicester Celtic Mini World Cup 2024 has come to an end, but what a week it was! 5 days with over 700 kids playing 240 matches interspersed with fun, food and festivities. The weather held up as much as could be hoped with only some slight misery to be endured in the early part of Friday evening. We’d like to take another opportunity to thank

• our sponsors for their funds and supplies
• DLRCOCO for the continued use of Nutgrove Loreto Park
• Ballinteer St. Johns GAA for the use of their pitch allowing us an additional 14 matches played each day
• Nutgrove Men’s Shed for the help and support they provided with monitoring on-street parking
• Paul Lundy and Mark Collins for their excellent photography
• Nutgrove Shopping Centre of the use of their carpark to facilitate the added influx of families
• Our First Aider Cameron who was always there to make things better
• Some of our older players getting a chance to see what a referee's life is like
• All of the volunteers who helped over the 5 days to ensure the event happened smoothly.
  • Our MWC committee who have spent many hours over the last few months organising it all
  • Our MCs and team coordinators
  • Our music, shop, raffle and BBQ helpers
  • Everyone who came out to set up and tear down the pitches and accouterments every day
  • And a special note to Neil who created the app that allowed us to display live scores as well as manage the teams and fixtures much easier than before

It wouldn't be Ireland without a bit of rain but we didn't let that dampen our spirits on our MWC 24 Semifinals last night. Great matches across all age groups with quite a few penalty shootouts to determine the standings coming into our Finals scheduled for Tomorrow morning.
Please be aware that the matches and presentations will be happening in the morning and early afternoon on Sunday:

5/6 final matches at 10:00, presentation at 10;50
7/8  final matches at 10;45, presentation at 11:50 
9/10 final matches at 11:30, presentation at 12:20 
11/12 final matches at 12:15, presentation at 1:40
13/14 final matches at 1:00, presentation at 1:40

We'll also be having our usual music, burgers and craic not to mention the eagerly anticipated Raffle draw so make sure you don't miss out!

Normal matches played over the last 3 days have brought us to our Semifinal fixtures to be played tonight with the Finals played Sunday. Make sure you come out and catch tonight's matches, soak in the atmosphere, eat some burgers and enter the raffle. You can see the Group Standings and tonight's fixtures on our MWC app.

To say we had an action packed opening day at our Mini World Cup 2024 would be an understatement. All the footballers and their guests enjoyed not only the 48 matches played, but also the music, food and festive atmosphere. Photo by Paul Lundy.

We're excited to announce that the Mini World Cup is finally here. We'll be busy this weekend getting all of the final touches in place to make this year's MWC bigger and better than ever before. More Information for the Mini World Cup 2024 Tournament can be found on the Mini World Cup 24 page but be advised of the following:

• MWC Tee Shirts for registered players will be ready for collection from the clubhouse on Monday 10 June between 18:00 and 20:00.
• Each age group will be clearly marked so please make your way to the relevant tables for collection.
• A helpdesk will be in operation should you have any queries/questions.
• Team lists and fixtures will be posted on the MWC 24 Teams & Fixtures page this weekend

So keep an eye to for the message that teams have been allocated and make sure you come out on Monday to collect your child's shirt for the tournament.
